NHL TEAM NOTES: THESE MILSTEIN'S ARE BROTHERS IN ARMS

Howard Milstein received approval from the NHL Board of
Governors this past weekend to sell his share in the
Islanders to his brother Edward should his bid for the
Redskins be accepted, according to Tarik El-Bashir of the
N.Y. TIMES. Edward Milstein, who is also a prospective
minority owner of the Redskins, will need NFL approval to
own both a small share of the NFL team and a 45% stake in
the Islanders. A "possible scenario" would be for Edward to
"buy his brother's share" of the Islanders, and then sell
the entire" 45% to an outside group (N.Y. TIMES, 1/24).
THE ART ON A DEAL: Lightning Owner Art Williams, on
selling the team: "I'm looking to take on a partner. I want
to get maybe one of the local companies to come aboard and
help sell this team to the community. ... But no, I'm not
selling the team" (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 1/23).
BETTMAN ON THE PENS: NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said
"there is no shortage of people" interested in buying the
Penguins and keeping the team in Pittsburgh. Bettman:
"We've been approached by at least two groups that are
     sniffing around" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 1/24).
