FELIZ NAVIDAD: GIANTS CUT HALF OF SPANISH RADIO BROADCASTS

The MLB Giants have cut their Spanish-language radio
broadcast schedule for the '99 season in half due to
"economic reasons," according to Michelle Smith of the S.F.
EXAMINER. The team will air 81 regular-season games in
Spanish, compared to 163 in '98. The change comes after the
Giants recently announced a deal with San Diego-based
Hispanic Sports Marketing (HSM) to be the Spanish radio
rights holder. HSM "hopes to increase" the number of
Spanish broadcasts in 2000, and "projects that it will be"
     carrying a full season by 2001 (S.F. EXAMINER, 12/20).
