Terms of Lou Holtz's new contract at the Univ. of SC (USC) "guarantees him at least" $600,000 annually, which includes a base salary of $150,000, an additional $350,000 from his radio and TV shows and "at least" $100,000 from his shoe contract, according to Bob Lang of the CHARLESTON POST & COURIER. Holtz will also receive the use of two cars and memberships to a number of clubs, including the University Club Golf Course. The USC athletic department will also pay the premiums for Holtz on a $600,000 life insurance policy and a $97,500 disability policy. The coach will also earn a bonus of $25,000 if the team goes to a bowl game, $50,000 for an SEC Championship and $75,000 for a national championship. The contract, which expires on December 31, 2003, allows either side to terminate the deal "at any time, with or without cause" (CHARLESTON POST & COURIER, 12/15).
