FRANCHISE NOTES

          Shares of the Cleveland Indians Baseball Co. have
     increased 10% in December after Forbes valued the franchise
     at $322M, the third-highest in MLB.  The stock was steady at
     8 1/8 Thursday, up from 7 3/8 on November 30 (BLOOMBERG/THE
     DAILY, 12/9)....The Hurricanes have sold all 11,059 tickets
     for their home game against the Red Wings on Saturday.  It
     will mark the first sellout since the team moved to
     Greensboro last year (NEWS & RECORD, 12/11)....An ad for the
     NHL Thrashers in today's ATLANTA CONSTITUTION runs with the
     tag, "Buy Someone Special A Seat This Season.  Even If
     They'll Only Use The Edge Of It" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION,
     12/11)....Vikings VP/Business Operations Rand Gottlieb said
     the team set an all-time souvenirs sales record of $246,000
     during Sunday night's game against the Bears.  Also, Vikings
     Owner Red McCombs said the team "has found a way to earn $3
     million in new Metrodome income this season."  The Vikings
     sold 529 season tickets Wednesday, and now have 7,000-plus
     new season tickets sold for next year (Minn. STAR TRIBUNE,
     12/11)....The MLRH Anaheim Bullfrogs "must come up with at
     least some" of the approximately $81,000 they owe Arrowhead
     Pond to play in the arena in '99.  The team owes the
     facility $75,000 in rent and another $6,000 for personal
     ticket orders by Bullfrogs Owner Stuart Silver.  Pond
     officials said they need a "good faith" payment to be able
     to make arrangements for next season (O.C. REGISTER, 12/11).
