  • TORCH BEARERS WANTED: OLYMPIC BID CITIES SEEK LEADERS

              The Washington, DC/Baltimore 2012 Coalition has hired
         VA insurance exec Dan Knise "to lead its effort for the 2012
         Summer Olympic Games," according to Thomas Heath of the
         WASHINGTON POST.  Knise, who will assume the role of
         Coalition President & CEO on December 1, previously
         supervised a staff of 1,500 and a $325M business for insurer
         J&H, Marsh & McLennan.  Knise will be paid "a six-figure
         salary" to head up the effort (WASHINGTON POST, 11/6).
              OPENING IN TORONTO: In Toronto, James Christie wrote
         that an executive search company for the city's 2008 Olympic
         bid is "hunting" for a president and CEO "who can lead both
         the domestic and international campaigns, and possibly stay
         on to run the Games organizing committee if Toronto should
         land the Olympics."  The position would be a full-time job
         for the next 2 1/2 years (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 11/5).
