BORN TO RUN ESPN? ESPN CREATES NEW CHAIR POSITION

ESPN President Steve Bornstein has been promoted to the
new position of ESPN Chair, and ESPN Exec VP/Sales &
Marketing George Bodenheimer has been promoted to President
of the network. Bornstein will retain his responsibilities
as ABC Sports President (ESPN). In Baltimore, Milton Kent
writes that the move "frees Bornstein ... to focus on
growing the ESPN behemoth even larger, particularly on the
foreign side" (Baltimore SUN, 11/20). Bornstein, on NBC
making a similar move five months ago, naming Dick Ebersol
NBC Sports Chair: "I figure if Ebersol flatters me by
knocking off our X Games (with NBC's Gravity Games), I can
flatter him by knocking off his title" (USA TODAY, 11/20).
