          The voices of Fox MLB announcers Joe Buck and Tim
     McCarver calling Game Five of the '97 Yankees-Indians series
     are heard in the background on one of the Linda Tripp-Monica
     Lewinsky tapes released yesterday.  McCarver: "If that's not
     a sign that baseball is back, nothing is" (USA TODAY,
     11/18)....NBC Sports and Golf Magazine will launch a cross-
     media project, "The Best Things in Golf," recognizing the
     year's best in the game.  NBC Sports will air a one-hour
     special on Saturday, February 13, 1999, and Golf Magazine
     will publish a stand-alone issue, which will hit newsstands
     on February 1.  Users will be able to vote on their "Best
     Things in Golf" via a survey on http://www.golfonline.com
     (NBC Sports)....USA TODAY's Rudy Martzke reports that "MNF"
     analyst Dan Dierdorf "is in negotiations for a new pact that
     might be completed by around Thanksgiving."  ABC earned a
     13.9 rating for the Broncos' 30-7 win over the Chiefs,
     putting the season average at 13.8, down from a 14.8 in '97
     (USA TODAY, 11/18)....The Breeders' Cup Web site,
     http://www.breederscup.com, received 3.1 million visits this
     year -- more than double last year's usage (Breeders' Cup).
     ...The Military Channel will air Saturday's SMU-Navy game,
     its second live football production (The Military Channel).
