THE PSINET AND THE PENDULUM: NEW RAVENS STADIUM TO GET NAME?

The Ravens and PSINet, a VA-based ISP, are in talks
over naming rights to the Ravens downtown stadium, according
to sources of Jon Morgan of the Baltimore SUN. Sources said
issues that still need to be "worked out" include how much
PSINet would pay for the rights, but the team "is focusing
on a deal with PSINet." Morgan writes that the Ravens "were
asking" $4M per year over 20 years in naming rights talks
with other suitors this year. Ravens Exec VP David Modell
declined to confirm or deny that the Ravens are negotiating
with PSINet, but PSINet Senior VP/Corporate Marketing Robert
Leahy "flatly denied having any talks with the Ravens on
naming rights." PSINet serves business customers, providing
Internet access, e-mail service, Web site design and secure
     electronic commerce (Baltimore SUN, 11/12).
