          FOR THE PITS? NASCAR has signed Old Spice as its newest
     marketing partner.  Old Spice will feature NASCAR-related
     advertising and promotion as part of its deal (NASCAR).
          MLB: Busch Stadium groundskeeper Tim Forneris, who gave
     Mark McGwire's 62nd home run ball back to the Cardinals 1B,
     received a new minivan from Chrysler Corp. yesterday.
     Chrysler gave the car in honor of its 15th anniversary of
     its St. Louis assembling plant (USA TODAY, 10/30)....Kid's
     Sportsworld in St. Louis sold out of 200 Mark McGwire
     Halloween costumes.  An "unscientific" survey showed no
     Sammy Sosa costumes in Chicago (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 10/29). 
          OTHER NOTES: CBS's David Letterman: "This NBA players
     strike is serious. ... In Chicago, earlier today, superstar
     Michael Jordan was walking around Chicago with a sign that
     read, 'Will endorse for food'" ("Late Show," 10/29)....One
     year after he signed a personal services contract with
     Citizens Bank, Celtics President/coach Rick Pitino appears
     in his first TV ad for the company, a 30-second spot, set to
     break Monday in the Boston area (BOSTON GLOBE, 10/30).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
