THESE PENS FULL OF RED INK: GET SECOND LOAN FROM MARINO

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Bernard Markovitz approved a new
"emergency loan" allowing Penguins co-Owner Roger Marino to
write another $2.5M check, "with the promise that his money
will be the first repaid with 8 percent interest," according
to Ann Belser of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. This is
Marino's second loan to be approved, with interest, in order
to make team payroll payments. Pittsburgh Hockey Associates
Attorney Robert Sable said that the team "needs to secure a
long-term loan of about" $20M to cover its operating losses
for the season (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 10/30).
THE ARENA WITH NO NAME: Also in Pittsburgh, Tom Barnes
writes that a six-year, $5M deal to sell Civic Arena naming
rights to Allegheny Energy Inc. is "in danger of slipping
away." Allegheny Energy spokesperson Debra Beck said that
the deal "is in doubt because of the team's filing for
bankruptcy protection" and is in a "wait-and-see mode"
     (Tom Barnes, PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 10/30).
