JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO SPONSOR THE OLYMPICS

Greg Norman's Great White Shark Enterprises has "struck
a deal" with SOCOG where Norman will help fundraising for
the 2000 Games and the Australian team, and will also "see
50,000 Olympic volunteers wearing his" apparel, according to
Matthew Moore of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. The sponsorship
deal falls into the "providers" category, where goods are
supplied to SOCOG "for a reduced price in exchange for some
rights to use the Olympic insignia." Moore reports that
SOCOG "is certain" to use Norman's int'l appeal to try and
"open doors of potential sponsors, particularly in" the U.S.
SOCOG still needs to raise $275M in sponsorship revenue to
meet IOC budget targets (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 10/29).
