A'S THE WORLD TURNS: MORGAN/DOLICH PART OF GROUP EYEING TEAM

Former A's Exec VP Andy Dolich, MLB analyst Joe Morgan
and Men's Wearhouse Founder & CEO George Zimmer are leading
a group "considering making a bid to buy" the A's, according
to Rick DelVecchio of the S.F. CHRONICLE. The group is the
first to "surface since the team was put up for sale last
week in a last-ditch attempt" to keep the franchise in
Oakland. The group "hopes to line up investors who would
put up enough capital for an offer acceptable" to A's co-
Owners Steve Schott and Ken Hofmann. The owners are asking
for "at least" $135M in cash, plus $20.3M in deferred player
compensation, which East Bay officials say does not
"reflect" what team's worth. The disagreement over the sale
price will go to an arbitrator (S.F. CHRONICLE, 10/27).
