RETAILERS AND LICENSEES LOOK GOOD IN PINSTRIPES

The Yankees' World Series victory has created "a hot
short-term market for virtually anything bearing the Yankee
name, with or without the World Series logo," according to
Richard Sandomir of the N.Y. TIMES. Modell's co-President
Michael Modell said that this year's post-World Series sales
are up from those after the Yankees win in '96. Modell:
"The Yankees are flying off the walls. It's like Christmas
in October." Yankee Clubhouse Shop Manager Pete Gavaris
said business was "17 times better than usual." Sandomir
reported that World Series licensees "are equally upbeat."
Pro Player President Doug Kelly said orders have exceeded
$2.5M at retail, up from the $1.5M last year and '96.
Majestic Athletic Senior VP Faust Capobianco: "This will be
one of our largest hot markets ever" (N.Y. TIMES, 10/24).
IN THE FLESH: adidas' "ANSKY Guys" took part in the
Yankees parade on Friday (ESPN, "SportsCenter," 10/23).
