TYSON STILL LOOKING FOR PROMOTER; RETURN MAY COME JANUARY 16

          With MIKE TYSON regaining his NV boxing license, "the
     only safe assumptions" are that Tyson will "use that license
     to resume his career, that he will be guided by a new Team
     Tyson and that controversy will continue to follow wherever
     he goes," according to Steve Springer of the L.A. TIMES. 
     While MAGIC JOHNSON will remain a "key figure," he "may not
     emerge as Tyson's official promoter."  One source close to
     Tyson puts DAN GOOSSEN of America Presents as "the leading
     contender."  Showtime, which still has Tyson under contract,
     "may push for CEDRIC KUSHNER."  Springer reported that "even
     the name of BOB ARUM ... has surfaced, but Arum said he has
     not been contacted and put little credence in that report." 
     The "new captain of Team Tyson" is his general counsel JOHN
     BRANCA (L.A. TIMES, 10/22).  Tyson began depositions in his
     $100M lawsuit against King, giving three hours of testimony. 
     USA TODAY's Jon Saraceno reports that Tyson's advisers
     "might have located his first opponent," BRIAN NIELSEN of
     Denmark.  The "newest working date" for Tyson's return to
     fight is January 16.  Whomever Tyson signs with as a
     promoter, he "wants a loan of up to $3.5 million, possibly
     to be used as part of a down payment to the IRS," to which
     he owes $13M (Jon Saraceno, USA TODAY, 10/22).
