LEAGUE NOTES

An NHL official said that Denver is in contention to
host the 2001 NHL All-Star Game. NHL VP/Special Events
Frank Supovitz said that there "are approximately six clubs"
vying for the game, but would not reveal the other five
cities (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 10/22)....ABL Quest Head Coach
Brian Angler, who has interviewed with three WNBA franchises
for head coach and GM duties: "There's no question that the
ABL, from top to bottom, is the better league on the floor,
but the WNBA is closing the gap, especially after last
year's draft" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 10/21)....The NFL
"agreed" that there were two incorrect calls made in last
Sunday's Colts loss to the 49ers. The league stated that
"two critical defensive holding penalties against the Colts
should not have been called" (STAR-NEWS, 10/22).
