MEDIA NOTES

SI's "Scorecard" notes the behavior of K.C. Star
columnist Jason Whitlock at a rainy Foxboro Stadium during
the Chiefs-Patriots game October 11. After being verbally
heckled by Pats fans during the rout, Whitlock "held up two
hand-written signs to bait the fans" which read, "IT'S WARM
IN HERE -- GOOD LOOKING WOMEN, TOO" and "BLEDSOE GAY? PATS
SUCK." The signs were confiscated by Foxboro security, but
SI notes that as of Monday, no action had been taken against
Whitlock by the NFL or the Pro Football Writers Association.
Whitlock's column ran on October 12, but has not run since.
K.C. Star Sports Editor Rick Vacek said the paper did not
"condone this type of behavior" and that there "would be
consequences" (SI, 10/26 issue)....New Line TV's "The CBA:
Before They Were Stars" has received clearance from stations
including WNBC in N.Y., KNBC in L.A.. WABU in Boston and
KARE in Minneapolis. The one-hour special highlighting the
CBA debuts in December (New Line)....Fox Sports Detroit
earned a 6.6/11 cable rating for the Red Wings' home opener
last Friday, the network's highest rating ever (FSD).
