ABC/ESPN CLOSE TO SIGNING U.S. SOCCER DEAL

          IMG's TWI "is close to cutting a four-year deal with
     ABC and ESPN" for the U.S. Soccer Federation, according to
     Langdon Brockinton of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL.  The deal
     "would give the networks a package of games involving the
     men's and women's national soccer teams."  Sources said that
     the terms of the deal call for ABC to broadcast four games a
     year, and ESPN/ESPN2 would air "about a dozen matches"
     annually.  Brockinton's sources said that the deal "would be
     a time buy" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/19 issue).
