COOKE ESTATE STARTS SEARCH FOR POTENTIAL BUYERS FOR REDSKINS

The Jack Kent Cooke Estate "has identified a list of
potential buyers" for the Redskins and last week began
"distributing to them key financial information," according
to Thomas Heath of the WASHINGTON POST. Sources said that
Morgan Stanley "started hand-delivering" memorandums late
last week, and potential bidders "will have about a month"
to review the information and decide whether or not to
proceed. Heath writes that the distribution of financial
data, contained in a 100-page "confidential information
memorandum" with various team information, is "a signal that
the football team's sale has entered a new phase six weeks
after being put on the market." Sources say the Cooke
estate "expects five strong bidders to emerge after
Thanksgiving," and the plan is "to complete the sale by late
January and present it to the NFL owners for their approval"
at the annual meetings in March (WASHINGTON POST, 10/20).
