          A Cook County jury "rejected" a film production
     company's $16M lawsuit against MICHAEL JORDAN over his
     failure to appear in the '91 movie "Heaven is a Playground." 
     The jurors deliberated for about seven hours before reaching
     a verdict.  The jury also awarded Jordan his $50,000 advance
     to do the movie, which he had previously returned (Mark
     Brown, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 10/16)....CBS Sports' PHIL SIMMS,
     MARCUS ALLEN and GREG GUMBEL of "The NFL on CBS" and
     Clippers F LOY VAUGHT have cameo appearances on tonight's
     episode of CBS's "Buddy Faro," about a "sleazy sports agent"
     (CBS)....MAGIC JOHNSON said that the 16-screen theater he
     plans to build at US Airways Arena "will cater to black
     residents and be a place where blacks 'get the respect we
     deserve.'"  Johnson also "pledged" to bring in a Starbucks
     and a TGI Friday's restaurant after the movie theater is
     completed next year (WASHINGTON POST, 10/16).  In N.Y.,
     Peter Vecsey reports that Johnson "is no longer using" LON
     ROSEN to handle his business affairs (N.Y. POST, 10/16)....
     America's Cup crew member DAWN RILEY will be in N.Y. Sunday
     to teach inner-city girls how to sail as part of the True
     Youth community out-reach program (True Youth).
