THE LATEST SCHACK ATTACK: MLBPA LAWYER TO RIDE THE BENCH?

ARTHUR SCHACK, an MLBPA lawyer who has been with the
union for 16 years, is a candidate for a 10-year term on the
bench of the Civil Court of NYC, according to Murray Chass
of the N.Y. TIMES. The Exec Committee of the Kings County
Democratic Party nominated Schack after its sitting judge
died. Schack is running in Brooklyn, "which means the
nomination is tantamount to victory," since no Democrat for
the court has lost there in this century (N.Y. TIMES, 9/27).
