MEDIA NOTES

Kirch Group Managing Dir Dieter Hahn said that "the
participation of Rupert Murdoch seems increasingly unlikely"
as a partner in the restructuring of the German media
company (DAILY VARIETY, 9/24)....In Dallas, Holly Cain, on
NBC joining ABC, CBS, ESPN and TNN as a NASCAR TV partner:
"This television saturation is probably good for NASCAR. It
shows that the series is so popular, everyone wants a piece
of it. But at some point, NASCAR's network juggling act may
prove confusing to the viewers. We like things simple. And
guessing which station the race is on every week could get
real old" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/24)....The Golf Channel
(TGC) will premiere its "biggest original production," a
two-hour documentary titled "Arnold Palmer: Golf's Heart and

9/24)....Fox Sports Chicago reached the three million
subscriber mark. The net started in '84 with 13,000
subscribers, when it was known as SportsVision (FSC).
