SHARKS TO FEED ON NEW TELECOM PACT WITH PACIFIC BELL

9.23.1998

          Pacific Bell has reached a multi-year exclusive
     sponsorship deal becoming the Official Telecom Sponsor of
     the Sharks and San Jose Arena.  Pacific Bell becomes the
     Sharks' fourth category exclusive arena sponsor, along with
     Anheuser-Busch, PepsiCo and Southwest Airlines.  In the
     deal, Pacific Bell gains category exclusivity for telecom
     products and services.  Pacific Bell will also get involved
     in supporting community efforts of the team such as The
     Sharks Foundation and the Sharks Community Development
     programs.  In addition, Pacific Bell said it will continue
     its current sponsorship of the Sybase Open ATP men's tennis
     tournament played in San Jose Arena through 2001 (Sharks).
