YOUR N.Y. (NEW JERSEY, PHILADELPHIA, CONNECTICUT) ISLANDERS

The Islanders may not return to Nassau Coliseum until
December 2, "if at all this season, unless ordered to do so"
by a district court or NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman,
according to John Valenti of NEWSDAY. Bettman will be
presented with a list of available dates for six arenas --
MSG, Continental Airlines Arena, New Haven Coliseum,
Hartford Civic Center, First Union Center and one other site
in the tri-state area -- where the Islanders could play
their first 12 regular-season home games (NEWSDAY, 9/15).
In N.Y., Anthony McCarron writes that SMG President Wes
Westley said that the team's move from Nassau Coliseum was
"nothing but a publicity stunt by the team" to break its
lease. Westley: "They have a lease to play at the Coliseum.
The safety issues are bogus. We will enforce the lease."
(N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/15). In N.Y., Marc Berman writes that
the NHL plans to do its own inspection of the Coliseum this
week, and is awaiting permission from SMG (N.Y. POST, 9/15).
