FROM SMUT TO SPORTS: ESPN ZONE TO OPEN IN TIMES SQUARE

          Disney will open an ESPN Zone theme restaurant in Times
     Square in time for the New Year's Eve 2000 celebration,
     according to Peter Gant of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS.  The "three-
     level restaurant and entertainment complex", under
     construction in the Conde Nast Building at 42nd Street and
     7th Avenue, will feature "dozens of TV screens, a virtual
     reality game room and a studio for broadcasting specials." 
     The Times Square site will be the "flagship" in its chain of
     theme ESPN Zone restaurants.  The initial ESPN Zone opened
     in Baltimore last July (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/10).
