WILL THERE BE A GIANT PARKING PROBLEM AT PAC BELL BALLPARK?

Parking spaces at the MLB Giants new Pac Bell Park "are
at such a premium" that the team has scheduled only 13
weekday games, "the minimum amount permitted" by MLB, in its
inaugural season at the new ballpark, according to Gregory
Lewis of the S.F. EXAMINER. The ballpark, scheduled to open
in April 2000, will have 42,000 seats "but only 5,000 off-
street spaces." Officials believe they need 12,000 to
13,000 parking spaces for each game, "but both the Giants
and The City are counting on public transit ... and expanded
ferry services to carry the bulk of fans to and from the
stadium" (Gregory Lewis, S.F. EXAMINER, 8/19).
