          SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Rofe & Mullen report that
     agent LEIGH STEINBERG is in "serious negotiations" with
     SUGAR RAY LEONARD about joining Leonard's newly formed
     management company, "which Steinberg envisions providing
     marketing, financial and legal services."  Steinberg has had
     marketing relationships with OSCAR DE LA HOYA and EVANDER
     HOLYFIELD "but has never acted as a manager."  He said he
     could have a decision on whether to join Leonard within a
     month (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/17 issue)....Rockets Owner
     LES ALEXANDER offered a $50,000 reward yesterday "for
     information identifying those responsible for the slaughter
     of double-crested cormorants on an island in eastern Lake
     Ontario" (AP/N.Y. TIMES, 8/18)....JACK ENSCH, the Padres'
     liaison with the Navy and Marine Corps, works with the 
     450,000 active-duty and retired servicemen, women and
     families in the San Diego area, and his marketing effort
     includes distributing free and discounted tickets to sailors
     and Marines (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 8/17).
