NFL NOTES: INVESTIGATION OF COWBOYS; BUCS CHANGE TIX POLICY

The NFL has begun looking into the July 29 dormitory
incident involving Cowboys WR Michael Irvin and G Everett
McIver. NFL VP/Communications Greg Aiello: "This is a very
normal, routine process. 'Investigation' would probably be
too strong a word" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 8/12). In other
news, the Cowboys "were impressed" by the turnout of nearly
30,000 for yesterday's scrimmage at Independence Stadium in
Shreveport, although team execs "stopped short of
guaranteeing a return" next year (DAL. MORNING NEWS, 8/12).
TEAM NOTES: In a change of policy, the Bucs said they
will limit buyers to 10 tickets a game when seats for the
final four home games of the season go on sale today. The
policy was changed in response to the "uproar caused" when
the team's first four regular-season home games sold out
within hours after tickets went on sale (ST. PETERSBURG
TIMES, 8/12)....More than 30,000 people showed up, and paid
     a $10 admission charge, for a 49ers-Chargers joint practice
last night at the Univ. of Pacific (S.F. CHRONICLE, 8/12).
