The inaugural "Nike Four in the Fall" preseason women's
basketball tournament, presented by Secret antiperspirant,
will be conducted by the Women's Basketball Coaches
Association at San Jose Arena November 13-14. The event
will feature UConn, Stanford, Duke and the Univ. of AR. The
tournament will be televised on Lifetime, which will air
both Friday games and the Saturday final (WBCA).
X MARKS THE SPOT? ESPN officials said that "they are
leaning toward" San Francisco as the host of the '99 and
2000 X Games. They also said St. Petersburg, Seattle and
Providence are "in the running" (ST. PETE TIMES, 8/12).
