RANDY'S JUST DANDY FOR FOX SPORTS SW AS IT EARNS TOP RATING

          Randy Johnson's home debut with the Astros produced the
     highest rating ever for an Astros game on Fox Sports
     Southwest, earning a 7.6, according to David Barron of the
     HOUSTON CHRONICLE.  An average of 123,450 households watched
     Friday's game.  With cable penetration in the Houston market
     at 56%, the rating translates into a 13.5 cable TV rating. 
     The previous high for an Astros game on FSSW was a 7.1 for a
     September '97 game against the Cubs.  Friday's game, which
     peaked with two 15-minute periods at 8.1, was the highest-
     rated show of the night on Houston basic cable.  Sunday's
     game against the Phillies also drew well, earning a 6.0, and
     pushing the Astros' season average on FSSW to a 3.4, up 31%
     from last season (David Barron, HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 8/11).
          INSIDE THE NFL: The Bucs-Chiefs preseason game from
     Norman, OK, drew a 16.5/29 local rating in Tampa (TAMPA
     TRIBUNE, 8/11)....In Charlotte, the Jags-Panthers preseason
     game earned a 15.8/31 on WBTV (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/11).
