GAMGORT TO LEAVE MLB FOR TOP MARKETING POST AT M&M/MARS

M&M Mars has "hired away" MLBP President BOB GAMGORT to
"assume its top marketing slot," according to Terry Lefton
of BRANDWEEK. Gamgort will become M&M/Mars' VP/Marketing
and will oversee all aspects of the campaigns for such
brands as Snickers, M&Ms, Milky Way and Three Musketeers.
Lefton writes that while at MLB, Gamgort has "overseen the
transformation of an often impotent, fractious organization
into one with improved club relations and increasing
sponsorship and licensing revenues." Gamgort, on his move:
"If I wanted to stay in sports, this (MLBP) was a job I
could have stayed in for a long time. But it came down to
wanting to return to consumer product marketing and to run a
company some day" (Terry Lefton, BRANDWEEK, 8/10 issue).
