RAVENS OR RAVERS? TEAM ENCOURAGES PRE-GAME PARTYING
Published July 7, 1998
When the Ravens' new stadium opens, there will be more
"tailgating than ever," as the team "will bring tailgating
to" the fans, according to Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore
SUN. All of the 5,000 parking spaces controlled by the
Ravens and the MD Stadium Authority will be "tailgating-
accessible and will be open four hours before game time."
The cost of the spaces will be $15 per game and $150 for the
season. The team has also created a "specialized Tailgating
Zone," with slightly more than 1,000 parking spaces, where
stadium concessionaire Fine Host will serve food (SUN, 7/7).
THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF RAVENS: In Baltimore, Jean
Marbella reported that the Ravens sent 60 of their 2,000
game-day personnel to the Disney Institute last weekend "to
learn from the reputed happiest place in the world."
Offering both classroom instruction and tours of the "famed
parks, the Disney seminars won raves from the Ravens staff
even as they acknowledged that it might not always be
possible to sprinkle Disney's 'pixie dust' on their own
operations" (Jean Marbella, Baltimore SUN, 7/6).
