FACILITY NOTES

          In Denver, stadium backers on Monday will turn in
     50,000 signatures on petitions seeking a vote on a $260M
     subsidy for a new Broncos stadium.  Citizens for a New
     Stadium needs 28,700 valid signatures to make the November 3
     ballot (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 7/31)....Giants Stadium has
     added 46 private boxes for the '98 season, ranging in size
     from 460 to 746-square-feet.  The stadium now has 118 luxury
     suites, just above the league average of 114.  The Jets,
     Giants and the NJ Sports & Exposition Authority will net
     more than $4M each every year, once the $43M loan to finance
     the boxes is paid off (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 7/31)....In
     Toronto, Robert Benzie reports that the $1B Technodome
     sports and entertainment complex "moved closer to reality
     yesterday after Toronto city council approved rezoning of
     the Downsview base lands."  Along with a 12,500-seat arena,
     an indoor mountain and whitewater river and theme park,
     Technodome will feature an Olympic-sized swimming pool and
     diving facility (TORONTO SUN, 7/31).
          SOMETHING ABOUT MARY-LAND? 36,016 fans attended the
     Ravens' open-house "practice" last night at their new
     stadium.  In Baltimore, McKee & Klein report that there were
     elevator and sound-system problems (Baltimore SUN, 7/31). 
     But in DC, Ken Denlinger writes under the header, "Ravens
     Have Grand Opening" (WASHINGTON POST, 7/31).
