ARRRRRRRRRRGH! BUCS SET UP GLAZER SEAPORT AT RAYMOND JAMES

The Bucs yesterday announced plans for Buccaneer Cove
at the new Raymond James Stadium, a 20,000-square-foot
project that will feature a replica of an early 1800's
seaport village, complete with a 103-foot-long pirate ship,
according to Pat Yasinskas of the TAMPA TRIBUNE.
Construction of the ship began a month ago, and the entire
$3M project is expected to be ready for the stadium's
opening September 20. The structure, which is being paid
for by the team, will be located between the seats and the
scoreboard in the north end zone. The pirate ship will be
equipped with eight cannons that will shoot confetti and
soft footballs into the stands after the Bucs score. The
front of the ship will feature a "smoke-spewing" skull and
crossed sword. There also will be working sails with the
team and stadium logo. Fans will be able to board the ship
during games, and it will also be used for "special events."
Rental prices have yet to be determined (TAMPA TRIBUNE,
7/30). Buccaneer Cove will also have a deck where
cheerleaders will perform (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 7/30).
