ESPN Magazine's first eight issues averaged 405,000 in
paid circulation, as every issue exceeded the 350,000
guaranteed rate base. The figure puts ESPN Magazine on

the September 7 issue. For the first two issues, paid
subscriptions averaged 260,000, while newsstand sales
averaged 145,000. The title's June 29 edition, which
featured Michael Jordan on its cover, is its best selling
issue so far, totaling more than 450,000 in circulation. In
addition to the September rate-base hike, the magazine is
scheduled to up its rate base to 700,000 in January '99, and
again to 1 million in January 2000 (ESPN Magazine).
