NAMES IN THE NEWS

          Five of the nine members of the Festina cycling team
     that was expelled from the Tour De France, "confessed to
     being part of an organized doping system."  Festina member
     ALEX ZULLE called drug use "part of the business of
     professional cycling" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 7/27)....Bills
     LB CHRIS SPIELMAN, whose wife has been diagnosed with breast
     cancer, will sit out the '98 NFL season "in order to provide
     complete support" for her and their two children (COLUMBUS
     DISPATCH, 7/25)....JumboSports founder JIM BRADKE died
     Thursday while undergoing surgery for renal cell cancer.  He
     was 57 (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 7/25)....Sabres co-founder NORTHROP
     KNOX died Thursday at his home in NY following a long
     illness.  He was 69 (Sabres).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft
