REEBOK REPORTS THAT 2Q PROFIT DOWN 70%; SALES DOWN 11%

Reebok Int'l reported its second quarter profit dropped
     70% from a year ago to $6.1M, or $.11 a share, from $20.3M,
or $.35 a share for the same period a year ago, according to
the WALL STREET JOURNAL. The results were "just above" a
consensus forecast of $.09 a share. Sales fell 11% to
$760.6M from $841.1M a year ago while U.S. footwear sales
fell 13% to $268.9M from $308.5M a year ago (WALL STREET
JOURNAL, 7/24). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo: "Even though the
company beat estimates, it did say that the industry outlook
is not improving in the short term, and that economic
conditions in Asia as well as Latin America continue to
negatively impact Reebok's business" (CNBC, 7/23).
