FACILITY NOTES

Wells Fargo has acquired naming rights to AZ State
Univ.'s Athletic Center by contributing $5M toward the
athletic department's $20M campaign for facility
enhancements. Wells Fargo's naming deal on the arena, which
is used primarily for basketball, is for ten years (AZ DAILY
STAR, 7/22)....Mariners Board Chair John Ellis said that the
team will pay the $81M cost overruns on its new ballpark
"without dumping their best players, gouging on ticket sales
or seeking a bailout from taxpayers" (SEATTLE TIMES, 7/21).
....A spokesperson for RI Gov. Lincoln Almond said that
since talks broke off between the state and the Patriots
regarding building a stadium last year, "we haven't had any
contact or any kind of reaching out from the Krafts or the
Patriot organization to the governor or the governor's
office" (Providence JOURNAL BULLETIN, 7/22)....The Oakland
City Council is considering a staff recommendation to "enter
into exclusive negotiations" with CA-based Majestic Realty

near the Oakland Coliseum (OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 7/21).
