FACILITY NOTES

          Despite a $20M "shortfall," Raleigh's Centennial
Authority isn't "considering scaling down plans" for the
arena, and "still plan[s] to open by September 1999" (NEWS &
OBSERVER, 7/11). In Raleigh, Todd Taylor wrote that the
Hurricanes have "already sold" most of the 70 luxury suites
in their new Raleigh arena, and if the arena isn't ready by
September '99, a season split between Raleigh and Greensboro
"would be a marketing nightmare." The team "wants to avoid
having to market split-season tickets featuring games in two
cities" (NEWS & OBSERVER, 7/12)....In Toronto, Craig Daniels
wrote that construction of the Air Canada Centre, scheduled
to open in February '99, "has sped along" and the arena may
be ready to open on December 8 (TORONTO SUN, 7/12).
