CATCH A RISING NETSTAR? TSN PARENT REPORTEDLY ON THE BLOCK
Published July 10, 1998
The "word" in Canada is that NetStar Communications,
which owns TSN and its French equivalent, RDS, among several
broadcast outlets, is "up for sale and that Shaw
Communications is one of the prospective buyers," according
to Mike English of the EDMONTON JOURNAL. The pricetag for
NetStar is "roughly being put" at C$1B, but English reports
"there have also been rumors of NetStar going public or that
NetStar will purchase CTV Sports Net," which would create a
merger of Canada's two largest sports networks. CTV Sports
Net is slated for an October debut (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 7/10).
