POVICH died last night of a heart attack at the age of 92.
Povich's final column, titled "Recent Baseball Feats Require
Footnotes," appears on the front-page of today's sports
section (WASHINGTON POST, 6/5)....Nike's chief designer
TINKER HATFIELD was named among TIME's "Most Influential
Designers" in its "Artists and Entertainers of the Century"
issue (TIME, 6/8)....Lakers F RICK FOX, Mavericks G ROBERT
PACK and AVP player DAIN BLANTON are among EBONY's "25
Handsome and Available Hunks" (EBONY, 6/98)....In Milwaukee,
food critic Dennis Getto gives BRETT FAVRE'S STEAKHOUSE two
stars and writes, "While it's a fine shrine, Brett Favre's
isn't all that great a restaurant" (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 6/5).
