PVI TO DEBUT VIRTUAL SIGNAGE DURING METS-YANKS SUBWAY SERIES

NJ-based Princeton Video Image has reached a deal with
ESPN to provide virtual signage during this Sunday's
nationally televised Yankees-Mets game. Advertisers will
each get a half-inning of exposure behind home plate. As
part of the deal, PVI will receive a portion of all gross
revenues generated from the ads (PVI). In N.Y., Richard
Wilner reports that the game will mark "the first time"
virtual signage will be used in N.Y. or on a national MLB
telecast. According to PVI's deal, the Mets will sell
advertising for two innings and ESPN for seven, with PVI
taking a share of the total. Wilner reports that with each
half-inning going for about $20,000, "roughly the same"
price as a 30-second TV spot, the Mets will gross about
$80,000. ESPN would not confirm the cost of 30-second spots
for their Sunday night telecasts (N.Y. POST, 6/25).
