EVENT NOTES

          ELWAY AT THE ISUZU: John Elway leads the field for the
     9th annual $500,000 Isuzu Celebrity Championship, July 10-12
     at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.  Other celebrities include
     Mike Shanahan, Marcus Allen, Johnny Bench, Ivan Lendl, Jerry
     Rice, Mike Modano and Mario Lemieux.  TNT will televise
     Friday's coverage, with NBC handling the weekend action.
     This marks the seventh year that Isuzu has sponsored the
     event, which is co-owned by NBC Sports and SMTI (Isuzu).
          NOTE: In Hartford, Mark Pukalo reports that the adidas
     soccer Summer League is "looking for a long-term home," and
     the Hartford CT area "has made a strong pitch."  The second-
     year project brought nearly 100 top college soccer players
     to CT for competition last year (HARTFORD COURANT, 6/25).
