NAMES IN THE NEWS

          STEVE YZERMAN was a guest on the "Late Show" last
     night.  Yzerman brought the Stanley Cup with him, and talked
     of the Wings' title run: "We got into the first round and we
     played Phoenix..."  Letterman: "Phoenix.  Now there's a
     hockey town for you.  Hockey goes way back in Phoenix." 
     Yzerman: "It's a hotbed.  Actually they're supported very
     well there.  It's a great atmosphere in the building.  Half
     the building is actually Red Wing fans anyway.  They follow
     us anywhere."  Yzerman was also a guest this morning on
     "Regis & Kathie Lee" (THE DAILY)....Stars & Rangers Owner
     TOM HICKS said Monday that he "sees great investment
     opportunity" in Dallas inner-city areas.  Hicks "discussed
     plans" to invest up to $500M in minority-owned companies in
     the next five-10 years (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/23)....Knicks
     F LARRY JOHNSON has put his home in RiverPointe, NC, up for
     sale for $3.5M (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 6/23)....Pacers co-Owner
     MELVIN SIMON put his 5-acre estate in Manalapan, FL, up for
     sale.  The asking price is $35M (STAR-NEWS, 6/20).
