PACERS NEAR DEAL WITH AMERITECH FOR FIVE-YEAR SPONSORSHIP
Published June 22, 1998
The Pacers and Chicago-based telecomm company Ameritech
Inc. "are close to culminating a new five-year corporate
sponsorship deal estimated to be worth about $2 million over
the life of the deal," according to Sean Horgan of the
INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS. Ameritech Dir of External Affairs
Brian Fitzgerald confirmed the negotiations for the deal
that includes a broadcast package, signage rights,
merchandising and a luxury suite. He declined to disclose
the financial details of the deal, but said it continues a
pre-existing relationship with the Pacers. Pacers Assistant
GM David Kahn could not be reached for comment, but he has
said the team hopes to strike deals with 75 corporate
sponsors as it prepares to move into the Conseco Fieldhouse
sometime in the fall of '99 (INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS, 6/20).
