DON KING FILES SUIT IN FL AGAINST TIME WARNER AND BOB ARUM

Don King has asked a federal court judge in Miami to
enjoin boxing promoter Bob Arum and Time Warner from
promoting or broadcasting fights involving Julio Cesar
Chavez, a move that could kill a scheduled PPV bout between
Chavez and Oscar De La Hoya on September 18, according to
Liz Mullen of Street & Smith's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Cary
Lubetsky, one of King's attorneys, said that his client also
asked the judge to stop a June 25 fight between Chavez and
Ken Sigurani to be broadcast on HBO's TVKO. The motion for
a preliminary injunction is part of a $100M lawsuit King
filed Tuesday against Time Warner and Arum, alleging that
they "willfully and maliciously" interfered in King's long-
term contract with Chavez. Arum told Mullin that he had
received notification of the motion, but predicted that the
fights would still be held. He claimed that King's contract
with Chavez is "clearly invalid" and is the subject of a
lawsuit filed by Chavez in Florida State Court. Arum said
that he would indemnify HBO and Time Warner against any
possible damages in King's lawsuit (THE DAILY).
