CALLAWAY SAYS, DECOF PLEASE! ATTORNEY TO HELP ADVISE ON USGA

Callaway Golf's Special Counsel LEONARD DECOF, who was
brought on "in anticipation of a major confrontation" with
the USGA over the technological advancements of golf clubs,
"became involved because of his reputation as the country's
foremost legal expert on golf's technological issues,
according to Paul Kenyon of the Providence JOURNAL-BULLETIN.
Decof, who is based in Providence, led Karsten
Manufacturing's successful fight against the PGA and the
USGA over the style of Ping clubs a decade ago. Decof said
that the Ping "case involved one company. This could be a
case which involves every company in the game." Decof said
he is "not a lawyer who looks to get his people into court.
But I tell my clients the best way to avoid litigation is to
be prepared to the fullest" (JOURNAL-BULLETIN, 6/10).
