OILERS TICKET HIKE TO COME IN HANDY AT SMALL FIELD IN VANDY

The NFL Oilers, who last season raised ticket prices
28.8% to an average of $40.36 per ticket, will raise ticket
prices 8.8% this season to an average of $43.92, according
to Phil Stukenborg of the Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL. The
Oilers, who are paying the Memphis and Shelby County Sports
Authority $1.2M to get out of a two-year lease at the
Liberty Bowl, will play home games this season at the
41,000-seat Vanderbilt Stadium. Oilers Dir/Ticket Operations
Marty Collins said the '98 increase is primarily the result
of playing at Vanderbilt, the smallest stadium in the NFL.
As part of its new lease, the Oilers are paying 10% of
ticket revenue to Vanderbilt, in addition to concessions,
parking and suite revenue (COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 5/28).
