  • NEW WORLD GOLF VILLAGE SET TO TEE IT UP THIS WEEKEND

The World Golf Village and World Golf Hall of Fame in
St. Augustine, FL, will hold a three-day, invitation-only
opening this weekend, which will include a Smokey Robinson
concert benefiting The First Tee initiative (World Golf
Village). The only pubic admission before Tuesday's Grand

OTHER NOTES: GOLF WORLD reports that the '99 Ryder Cup
is on pace to surpass the U.S. Open as the largest corporate
entertainment venue in golf. As of May 1, the PGA had sold
59 corporate hospitality tents at $250,000 per tent, a total
of $14.75M. In addition, sources say that ticket sales for
the matches, at The Country Club in Brookline, MA, are
"virtually sold out" (GOLF WORLD, 5/15 issue)....The City
Council of Boulder City, NV, will begin talks with the MGM
Grand to build two "upscale" golf courses in the area. The
deal will prohibit gaming and it won't allow a hotel or
homes along the golf course (LAS VEGAS SUN, 5/13).
