MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

Puma yesterday "blamed falling demand from Asia,
currency factors and higher costs" for a 60% decline in pre-
tax profits, to $7M for the first quarter of '98. Puma said
that although it expects full-year sales to increase from
'97, further investment in product development and marketing
and the effect of the Asian financial crisis will dampen
profits (FINANCIAL TIMES, 5/14)....Eagles QB Bobby Hoying
has joined CA-based Sports Specialties' team of NFL
endorsers, bringing its NFL endorser roster to 16 (Sports
Specialties)....The T.J. Martell Open has signed Cadillac
Catera, adidas and Ray-Ban as sponsors of the June 14 music
industry tennis tournament in Studio City, CA (THE DAILY).
