WOOD'S PERFORMANCE MAY PROMPT WGN TO KERRY MORE OF CUBBIES

WGN Station Dir Jim Zerwekh "indicated" Tuesday that if
Cubs rookie P Kerry Wood, who set the MLB record Monday for
strikeouts in consecutive starts, and the Cubs keep winning,
the station "might reclaim some games" scheduled for
ChicagoLand Television (CLTV), according to Mike Kiley of
the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. Zerwekh: "If there's flexibility to
do so, we may return some of the games to WGN." The Cubs
are scheduled to play 91 games on WGN, and 61 on CLTV, which
has less market penetration. CLTV earned a 4.2 rating for
Wood's Monday start, higher than the 4.0 WGN received on the
day Wood struck out 20 batters (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 5/13).
WGN is seen in 3.1 million Chicago-area households, while
CLTV is in 1.7 million. WGN VP & GM Peter Walker: "We had
envisioned that if the Cubs got hot late in the season, we'd
be able to bring some of the games back" (TRIBUNE, 5/13).
